Welcome Marla
We're glad to see Marla Loturco at this past months meeting. She's a MD player of two years with a talent and passion for the dulcimer and music that shines as she plays along like she's been with us forever. We welcome you with open arms and hope you enjoy our little family!
It's great to hear how the RRVDC - our club people - can attract outside dulcimer enthusiasts. How did we do this? Because we are an active club, we create enthusiasm in others, some not even familiar with our instruments, we perform outside the club meetings, and we support the dulcimer community by working hard and sponsoring WCR which has grown each year since its 1st gathering seven years ago.
Yeah - that's what it's all about
That's what we're all about!

The purpose of our Dulcimer Club is to provide opportunities for dulcimer enthusiasts to meet and share ideas and information, learn new music, and just have a good time jammin'. The club meets the 4th Saturday of each month. A short business meeting is followed by workshops for mountain and hammered dulcimers and a jam session. All stringed instruments are welcome.

Fur Traders Rendezvous at Ft. Washita
Just by chance and luck, Annette Lewis was able to attend the Ft. Washita event April 5th and played to a group of festival goers. She enjoyed a day of jamming and when asked about the dulcimer she promoted the club and invited everyone to attend our meetings and the WCR festival. Cuddos Annette!

RRVDC Meeting Place Directions
I'm posting these directions again so those people that didn't make the meeting will have these to help find their way. Boy I hope those who didn't come last month hadn't planned on coming but instead drove around looking for the place for three hours. If you did, please don't tell me - I'd feel really really bad…
On 75A/91 N. out of Denison: cross the dam - don't continue on the 91 turn east, go straight off 91, take a left like going to West Burns Run, immediate right on Willifa Woods Rd.; church on west side of road. OR S. on Hwy 75/69 from Durant, east on 75A/91 like going to Cartwright and the dam BUT do not cross dam. You'll continue west straight off 91 - then turn right (N.). It's really not hard to find.
The meeting rooms are in the fellowship hall on the back side of the parking lot. We had a great place to do workshops in separate rooms and a very large area for jamming. Everyone agreed to continue to meet there for monthly meetings.

Helpful Hint
If you haven't invested in a small digital or micro cassette recorder - please - do yourself a favor and get one! Trying to remember how a tune went after you've left the meeting or workshop just ain't going to get it unless you read music! While many of us can read music, those of us who only or also play by ear can pick up a tune quickly if we were able to hear it repeatedly as we worked out the chording and melody. Months after hearing the song for the first time, you can hear it again and keep the tune fresh in your mind to help you 'feel' your way through it. A great little investment for your music education.

Newsletter Contributions
Don't forget everyone, you can send in your event news, an article, an interesting web link, a comic or joke, etc. for inclusion in the newsletter. I'm always looking for things to pass on to others. If you enjoyed it, most likely so will everyone else!
If your interested in getting together with other members between meeting dates to play, it’s been expressed by some that they would entertain getting together to practice. Email to rrvdc@texoma.net and we’ll get everyone connected.
