We are happy when we see new faces at our meetings! Good to have you Jerry Price! A very talented MD player, he came to the meeting with instrument in hand, music to play, and friendships to be made! He's not involved in any clubs and we hope he becomes a regular at our meetings. Club member Jeanne Strey had encouraged his visit and said his face lit up when he spoke about it the next day! |

August Meeting Agenda
Cajun Waltz
Club member Lois Roberds will be instructing Cajun Waltz at Augusts' meeting. This is a song which Lois wrote her own lyrics for. (Regular club members - let me know if you didn't get the music via email.) Anyone wanting to contribute to the meetings by sharing and teaching a song they like please contact me and we'll get everyone the music prior to the meeting so they can practice on it before hand. We also want to think about what new songs we would like to learn. Have you noticed that the retail stores are putting out Christmas merchandise already? Is this a hint for us to think of songs we'd like to practice since Christmas is "just around the corner" and it's never too early to start thinking of songs to practice on.
Club Practice
In preparation of the performance on the 18th; club members Larry and Peggy Gooch, Jeanne Strey, Jerry Hogan and Laurel Hamrick practiced at Larry & Peggy's house. The Gooch's are continuing their last Saturday jam open house so be sure to come if you can!

July 18th Performance
North Park Baptist Church, Sherman TX
The club performance went very well with seven members performing for a group of about 50 people. All the comments favored the club performance and hopes for our return. A great meal was served and we received a donation to honor the club
WCR Update
Registrations Coming In
The first registration came in on Monday 07/09/07 for Winter Creek Reunion! Whoop Whoop! It came in from Lubbock Texas and the registration form was printed from the club website! Proof that things are coming together and happening for the 'Transition' Festival (how appropriate is that!). And to top it off, they will be staying for 5 nights, ordered 2 T's, 2 Friday dinners, and 2 Saturday dinners! So - is this a good sign of how things will be in October? Let's hope so!

Helpful Hint
DON'T use furniture polish or oils on your dulcimer. For those finger pluckers or strummers out there, you should wash your hands before playing your instrument. For cleaning, a water dampened cloth will not hurt your instrument for stubborn areas. A stiff brush, preferably made of natural bristles, brushes away dust between the strings and frets. Strings can be cleaned with a DRY nylon scrub pad or 0000 steel wool or 600 grit sandpaper. Some players believe the tarnish on the strings adds to the sound and personality of the music and don't believe in cleaning them - Yours to decide.

Newsletter Contributions
This is your newsletter folks. If you have an announcement, a cartoon, a handy trick, input on a festival or event you went to, please send things in. Since not everyone does the same things, it's nice to share experiences and news with others so everyone can hear about them too!
If your interested in getting together with other members between meeting dates to play, it’s been expressed by some that they would entertain getting together to practice. Email to rrvdc@texoma.net and we’ll get everyone connected.
