Have you asked yourself what the 'Transition' in Octobers Winter Creek Reunion Festival (WCR) is? The month of April has claim to the first six WCR festivals. In the past the festival was in conflict with Easter, other spring events, spring rains and previously scheduled appearances by friends of the festival. Since Russell's/MasterWorks' 'Sawdust' has retired, the fall slot was available - thus 'The Transition'. The WCR Festival will be the first weekend in October from this day forward! Another change or 'transition' this year will also host a few Friday afternoon workshops. So plan to make it in early if you can!
We hope everyone enjoys the changes and continues to support the festival and performers.
Come early, bring your lawn chair and enjoy the day, the music, the food and good friends!
In the meantime, take a look at the performers web sites who will be coming this time!

Ester Kreek www.estherkreek.com
Please try to visit all the performers' web sites and see what great talent we have access to!
Visit them and tell them how much you're looking forward to having them at WCR!

The purpose of our Dulcimer Club is to provide opportunities for dulcimer enthusiasts to meet and share ideas and information, learn new music, and just have a good time jammin'. The club meets the 1st Saturday of each month. A short business meeting is followed by workshops for mountain and hammered dulcimers and a jam session. All stringed instruments are welcome.

What to expect: WCR 'Transition'
The 'Transition' really has coined what this festival is all about. We're taking a one day festival with a Friday concert tease and changing into a two day festival with workshops both days, covering instruments from the MD and HD of course, to mandolin, autoharp, pennywhistle and more. We're still holding the "whiteboard workshops" which will team up individuals who can work together on specific requests. The concession stand is returning serving refreshments all day and through the evening concerts. There will be more tented areas to sit and relax while watching the open stage on Saturday afternoon. Yes - an open stage. This will allow anyone wanting to go on stage and share a song or jam a little with sound equipment and an audience can do so (something like performing don't you think?) Two organized jam areas will be available with plenty of room for everyone! And room for more gatherings if you choose! I think you just better plan on attending and make the 'Transition' along with everyone else!
On the lighter side:
My wife and I were browsing in a crafts store when I noticed a display of country-style musical instruments. After looking over the flutes, dulcimers and recorders, I picked up a shiny, one-stringed instrument I took to be a mouth harp. I put it to my lips and, much to the amusement of other shoppers, twanged a few notes on it.
After watching from a distance, my wife came up and whispered in my ear, "I hate to tell you this, honey, but you're trying to play a cheese slicer."
This submission was sent to us by a familiar face; thank you Kay Rigney!

Helpful Hint
Performing at Winter Creek Reunion Festival - 'The Transition'
;Pull out that sheet music and brush up on the songs that the club will perform at WCR. You do know that we open at least one of the night's concerts? If you didn't - you do now! That means you should know the music - wow - what a concept! I for one thought I knew a song and come to find out that I had been practicing the song missing a couple of measures! Now talk about embarrassing when I got to play that song, my version, along with the group! I'll go back and check our sheet music for sure! How about you?
SO PLAY - HAVE FUN!

Newsletter Contributions
This is your newsletter folks. If you have an announcement, a cartoon, a handy trick, input on a festival or event you went to, please send things in. Since not everyone does the same things, it's nice to share experiences and news with others so everyone can hear about them too!
If your interested in getting together with other members between meeting dates to play, it’s been expressed by some that they would entertain getting together to practice. Email to rrvdc@texoma.net and we’ll get everyone connected.
